First Mass Effect 3 Review ... Best Experience Yet
Here's the full summary of the review, courtesy of the Mass Effect forums (possible spoilers):
- 15-20 hour-long main quest.
- Around 40 hours playtime in total- side missions are vital to amass enough opposition to the Reaper threat.
- 90 minutes of cutscenes.
- No loose ends or cliffhangers, the game is truly an appropriate end to the trilogy with a very intense and touching finale.
- More than 100 scenes, conversations and/or events change depending on our choices after importing a save-game from ME2- from something small like someone thanking us for completing a mission to bigger repercussions which would be to spoilerous to write down- you are definitely going to feel the consequences, and not always like them.
- If and how many of these quests we complete influences how the game ends, and who- individually and globally- survives.
- While the game can be enjoyable for newcomers as well, because the game is strong on its own mechanically and story-wise, it is recommended to play the first two entries to make more sense out of the wealth of information that the game builds on.
- There's an interesting sequence after the end credits.
- The Role-Play mode of the game (In contrast to Action and Story) feels very much like ME1.
- The game gives you more opportunity to customize your Shepard. Each class has 8 talents with 6 levels each, and up from Level 4 there are two branches to choose from to level up each individual talent differently. Weapon customization is also a factor and noticeable, but the effects (which have both pros and cons) are only marginal.
- Balancing isn't optimal.
- The game is noticeably more difficult up from Medium", which makes using the correct weapon mods and talents integral to survive. Shepard also shoots more accurately in cover.
- The AI, on the other hand, is still not very advanced.
- There are multiple turret sections which aren't very well directed.
- Despite the shortcomings in level design, which are similar to ME2, the game is constantly thrilling, spectacular and dramatic- largely thanks to the well-presented story and dialogue- and there are lot of small and large choices again to ponder on.
- Scanning isn't nearly as repetitive as before, because it works a lot quicker now and incorporates a new mini-game where you have to navigate your ship away from Reaper threat.
- The new melee option is fun, but a little overpowered.
- Graphically, the low polycount, lack of detail and low texture resolution disappoints- the characters are well animated and modeled however, and the overall look, despite its age, is quite moody.
- Great dynamic soundtrack and sound-effects.
- Our progress in the war effort is constantly trackable on a terminal on the Normandy.
Pre-Order Mass Effect 3 Get Battlefield 3 Free ... AGAIN. [UPDATE]
Earlier today I found out that the deal will return for a limited time. Starting March 2nd and running until March 6th, EA will be offering the same deal where you can pre-order Mass Effect 3 for the PC and get a free copy of Battlefield 3 for the PC.
I cannot post the links to the offer as of yet because it is not active ... but starting this Friday, March 2nd, I will create a post with the links on how to get to the EA Origin offer. Stay tune for the update. Note that this is the same deal announced several weeks ago, the only difference is that is time the offer is only available for a specific period. Modern Warfare 3 DLC for Everyone
The DLC will contain 4 multiplayer maps; Liberation, Piazza, Overwatch, and Black Box, as well as two Spec Ops missions; Black Ice and Negotiator. As with all MW3 DLC, this will be available on the Xbox 360 first, with release on other platforms several weeks later.
No pricing was announced as of yet, but expect it to be around $15 or 1200 Microsoft Points. Stay tune for more.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter Coming in October
According to Official Xbox Magazine (via gameinformer), Warfighter will be developed by Danger Close Studios and will follow the story of Tier 1 Operations ... much like the last game.
The game will also use the Frostbite 2.0 engine used by Battlefield 3, but DICE will have no involvement in this one.
In 2010's Medal of Honor, DICE developed the multiplayer portion ... Warfighter's multiplayer will be handles completely by Danger Close.
Expect the game to be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Borderlands 2 Pre-Order Bonus and Release Date
In addition, the pre-order bonuses for the game was announced, which are focus around in-game items. These in-game goodies includes access to the Gearbox Gunpack, which includes golden guns, a golden key that unlocks a special chest in the city of Sanctuary, and the Vault Hunter's Relic, which affects gamers' loot-finding abilities.
According to the game official website, you can pick up these pre-order bonuses at GameStop and Amazon. No word on whether other retailers will carry these. Most likely they will have other pre-order incentives as the game gets closer to its release. Follow us to learn about those as they become available.
Mass Effect 3's First DLC Leaks to Xbox Live [UPDATE]
The first DLC content for Mass Effect 3, "From Ashes" was leaked to Xbox Live today. The content was listed for 800 Microsoft Points and was described as follows:
"Unearth lost secrets from the past and recruit the Prothean squad member in Mass Effect 3: From Ashes."

Spec Ops: The Line "Premium Edition" Free with Pre-Order ; Game Delayed to June
2K's tactical third-person military shooter that was scheduled for release sometime this spring has been pushed back to June of this year. Spec Ops: The Line will now be released June 26th in North America for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The international release date is set for June 29th.
In addition to the delay, 2K also announced that all pre-orders of the regular edition will get a FREE upgrade to the Spec Ops: The Line "Premium Edition" ... which will include multiplayer bonuses. Such bonuses includes a multiplayer perk that grants players double experience points during the first week of play. Other pre-order bonus will give players the ability to unlock the AK-47 weapon and the Officer Class at rank one. The Officer Class will offers advantages such as reducing damage taken by teammates and increasing the performance of other classes, according to 2K Games.
The "Premium Edition" will also come with the "FUBAR Pack", which will include exclusive pre-order accessories. No word on what those accessories are, but they are probably related to character customization. Follow us for more on this as information becomes available.

Modern Warfare 3's New Overwatch Map Hits Elite In February

Watch your every step, as a lack of boundaries surrounding the perimeter leaves nothing to prevent you from falling far to the ground below."If you are a Call of Duty Elite member, the new Overwatch map will be available for Modern Warfare 3 this February 21 for the Xbox 360. This will be the second "Content Drop" as part of the Content Season for Call of Duty Elite. No word on when this map will be available for the PlayStation 3, but as usual, expect it at a later date.
Medal of Honor 2 Confirmed ... Teaser Coming March 6
The game was not great, but it was a start in reviving the franchise. Fans will hope that MOH 2 will do more justice, but for me I could care less. It will most likely be another first person military shooter ... well tiring at this point. What I would be excited for is something new and different that will set a new standard like what the first Modern Warfare did. Let's see what happens.

Chris Priestly of the BioWare forums posted the following ...
"Many people have asked whether a gold Xbox Live account would be required in order to play the upcoming Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo and the answer is Yes, a gold Xbox live account will be required to play the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo. Now, before you start ranting and crying and burning me in effigy … the demo of Mass Effect 3 will include a limited time Gold access when you download the demo."
