Nintendo has revealed that the Wii U will be region-locked ... thus preventing it from playing games outside specific territories. Japanese magazine Famitsu has confirmed this with the following statement:
"What can be played on the Wii U is restricted by a region-lock feature; software not sold in the same region cannot be played."Nintendo also had this restriction with the original Wii and other handheld devices. I'm sure hardcore Nintendo fans will be slightly irritated that they can't import their favorite foreign titles, but this is not something most people will be too worried about.
