EA's Battlefield Premium service coming June 29th with a $60 price tag ... is it worth it?
Two weeks ago we reported that EA is gearing up to launch a subscription service for Battlefield 3 called Battlefield Premium. No pricing was revealed from that prior leak, but we now have reports that claim this service will cost $60 dollars (£34.95 in the UK) and will be releasing this June 29th.
This new information is according to UK retailer CoolShop, which states that "BF3 Premium Service is 1 code in a box to give the consumers early access to the BF3 DLC expansion packs - Back to Karkand (already released), Close Quarters (releasing June), Armoured Kill (releasing Sept) and End Game (releasing December)."If this is price tag is real, then this service better provide more than just early DLC access. $60, the price of the game at release, will be more than exceeding the cost of any future expansion packs ... is this worth paying that much for?
Previous rumors also suggested that Battlefield Premium will be revealed during this year's EA E3 press conference and will include early access to future DLC, such as the 5th unannounced expansion called "Aftermath." EA still hasn't made any official announcement of this service as of yet, but with E3 coming next week, expect more credible details as they become available.
[UPDATE]: New details revealed that Battlefield 3 Premium will launch June 4th, for $49.99 (4,000 Microsoft Points) on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Below is a facts sheet leaked online ... it includes service details reported early. [click image to enlarge]
[UPDATE 2]: Battlefield official twitter confirms that Battlefield Premium is legitimate, with more details coming during EA's E3 press conference this June 4th.
